How-to guide for Employers
Welcome!
Residential Childcare Careers is a brand new job board, created by the sector, for the sector.
Your new job board is simple and easy to use, and if you have any comments or suggestions to help us make it better for you, please send us an email at [email protected]
This guide provides a few tips to help you make the most of your Employer Profile, and your job posts.
Getting started
Before posting a job for the first time, you’ll need to create your Employer Profile. Applicants will be able to view your profile when searching for and considering roles, so it’s a great chance to really celebrate what you do.
While your individual job posts will provide key information about specific roles on offer, your Employer Profile is a chance to highlight what makes your organisation unique, your specialisms, but also your organisation’s culture and what makes it a great place to work.
- Be sure to add your organisation’s logo to help you stand out
- If you have a promotional video, you can add this to your profile as a header by linking to Vimeo or YouTube. If you also add a main image, they will appear in rotation on the header banner.
- Use your Description to highlight what you do, your organisation’s achievements, how you support your employees – anything you like! You can also embed videos or HTML in this section.
- You will be able to update your Employer Profile whenever you like, so it’s worth thinking about ways you can celebrate your organisation in content, images or film if you do not already have these resources.
Simply click on 'EMPLOYERS' at the top right of the website, then click 'CREATE EMPLOYER ACCOUNT'
Posting jobs
Once you've created your Employer Profile and are logged in, go to your Dashboard. Under 'Your Active Products', click to 'Purchase more Job Posting Credits'. There's no charge if you're a member of The Children's Homes Association, and you can use as many job posts as you like.
Once you’ve selected a product, simply complete the various self-explanatory fields and options to complete your job post. You can preview the post before it goes live. Be sure to provide as much information as you can.
Apply by Email, or Apply by URL?
When posting a job, you can select for applicants to Apply by Email, or Apply by URL. Unless you have your own online system, we recommend using Apply by Email as this makes it possible for us to require applicants to provide key information before they contact you.
If you select Apply by Email, our system will automatically ask any applicants to confirm the following information. Their answers will not prevent them from applying, but will provide you with key information. Our system is currently set to capture the following information when applicants apply – you can see how this works by clicking to apply any example jobs currently on the board.
- Right to work in the UK
- Details of relevant previous experience
- UK Driving License
- Over 18 years of age
- Any relevant qualifications
Please contact us if you wish to suggest any other key screening questions that should apply to all applicants across all jobs on Residential Childcare Careers.
Are Global Screening Questions right for you?
If you have specific requirements of all applicants before they apply for any role in your organisation, (eg Right to work, UK driving license, experience in a care setting, a specific check or qualification ) and want to automatically reject applications from individuals who do not meet those criteria, it is possible for us to set Global Screening Questions that will apply across all your jobs, ONLY when you set a job posting to Apply by Email.
If you would still like to take advantage of Global Screening Questions, these will need to be set by our support team. Please note that any Global Screening Questions you request will override our standard questions mentioned above, and apply to every job you advertise. So please consider carefully whether Global Screening Questions will be beneficial to you before making a request.
In future we hope to offer the option of adding bespoke screening questions for individual jobs.
