Waking Night Support Worker

We're offering an exciting opportunity to join our Emotional Well-being Home in Braunstone, Leicestershire as a Waking Night Residential Children & Young People's Worker on a full-time, permanent basis.

Location: Braunstone, Leicestershire

Hours: 10:00pm – 8:00am (4 nights on, 4 nights off)

Salary Enhancement: Includes a Night Shift Premium Allowance (calculated at one-third of your hourly rate) in recognition of the unsociable hours.

About the Home

The Old Post Office is a nurturing and beautifully designed residential home supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with complex needs and behaviours. With space for up to three children & young people, the home offers a safe and enriching environment where young people can build friendships, explore new experiences, and develop confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities

As a Waking Night Worker, you will:

• Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence and well-being.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals.
• Support the upkeep of the home, including domestic tasks.
• Accurately document and maintain records.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive environment overnight.

What We're Looking For

To be considered, you must:

• Hold a valid driver's licence and have access to your own vehicle (due to shift times).
• Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or be willing to achieve this within the required timeframe.
• Be motivated to make a positive impact in young people's lives.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Be flexible to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Be willing to attend mandatory training, group supervision, and consultation sessions during daytime hours (with advance notice).
• Previous experience working with children and young people is desirable, but not essential—we welcome applicants with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

While your base will be Braunstone, occasional travel to our other homes across Leicestershire may be required to support staffing needs.
