Responsible Individual (Children’s Home)
Angelgroup Bright Futures is seeking an experienced and committed Responsible Individual (RI) to support the registration and development of a new 3-bed children’s home in Solihull.
This is an exciting opportunity for an RI who has experience supporting children’s homes through the Ofsted registration process and is passionate about establishing high-quality, child-centred services from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Ofsted Responsible Individual on behalf of the provider.
- Provide strategic oversight and governance of the children’s home.
- Support the organisation through the Ofsted registration process and beyond.
- Monitor quality, safeguarding, compliance, and service performance.
- Provide support, guidance, and constructive challenge to the Registered Manager and senior leadership team.
- Review Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 reports and oversee continuous improvement plans.
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and Ofsted requirements.
- Promote positive outcomes, safety, and wellbeing for children and young people.
- Build effective relationships with Ofsted, Local Authorities, and other external stakeholders.
- Support the development of a strong safeguarding and quality-focused culture across the service.
- Ability to support and develop the Registered Manager while maintaining appropriate professional oversight and accountability.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience working within children’s residential care.
- Previous experience as a Responsible Individual or in a senior leadership role within an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential setting.
- Experience working within children’s homes supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Learning Disabilities (LD), or similar complex needs.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements, and Ofsted expectations.
- Experience supporting Ofsted registration, inspections, and compliance processes.
- Excellent leadership, governance, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to provide both strategic oversight and practical support during the development of a new service.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager within a children’s residential home, although this is not essential.
- Experience supporting the setup and registration of new children’s homes.
- Understanding of the commissioning landscape and Local Authority requirements.
- Experience developing new services, quality assurance systems, and improvement plans.
